Since 2007, Northern Colorado Writers has provided support and encouragement to writers of all levels and genres in Northern Colorado and beyond. Through monthly meetings, classes, networking & social events, the annual conference, the monthly newsletter and annual retreat, NCW helps new and established writers navigate their way to success.

Finalists will be announced and notified on or around March 1, 2015 and the winners will be announced in March 27, 2015 during dinner at the NCW 10th Anniversary Writers Conference. Attendance at the conference is not required.

2015 Contests Are Under Way!

NOW OPEN: Short Fiction  
DEADLINE: March 31, 2015
The short story can be in any genre or style and should have broad appeal. See below for word count and style guidelines. The final judge for this year's short fiction competition is award-winning author and Pushcart contributing editor Robert McBrearty. 

Personal Essay/Creative Nonfiction 
SUBMISSION PERIOD: April 1-June 30, 2015
The personal essay can be in any form or style, and should be evocative, thought-provoking, and sincere--and if it's humorous too, even better. See below for word count and style guidelines. Our final judge in this category is the 2014 Colorado Book Award winner for Creative Nonfiction, BK Loren.

Poetry 
SUBMISSION PERIOD: July 1-September 30, 2015
Poems can be in any style, up to 250 lines. Submit up to three poems per entry fee in this category (see submission formatting instructions below). The final judge for poetry is Colorado's new Poet Laureate, Joseph Hutchison
