Maria Berardi's work has appeared in local and national magazines as well as at the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities, in Arvada, CO, in collaboration with installation artist Bonnie Ferrill Roman. Her first collection, Cassandra Gifts, was published in 2013 by Turkey Buzzard Press, and she is currently at work on her second (a chapbook, or perhaps not, entitled Pagan.) Educated at Hampshire College, the University of Colorado-Denver, Naropa University, and Lighthouse Writers Workshop, she lives in Bailey at precisely 8,888 feet above sea level. Her process is one of listening for transmissions from the cosmic radio and trying to catch them on paper before they dissipate: the glimpse, the complicated knowledge.
Amy Wray Irish grew up in the Chicago area, then fled the Midwest for the Rocky Mountains. Here she can freely be in love with the natural world, entangled with art, and obsessed with mythology. Amy is a member of Lighthouse Writers and the Columbine Poets; has been published both online and in print journals; and especially enjoys performing at venues around Denver. Her two books of poetry are Creation Stories (2016) and The Nature of the Mother (now available from Turkey Buzzard Press). Learn more at amywrayirish.com.

Come and enjoy January’s Final Friday, 31Jan2020, 7 – 9 PM.
For nearly two years now, Mad Blood’s venue has been at Evergreen’s United Methodist Church, with scheduled presentations for each month’s last Friday, starting at 7PM. We normally have two featured presenters/performers for 30 - 40 minutes each and then have open mic readings of 3 - 5 minutes each, by members of the audience. Most scheduled presenters will feature poetry, but there also will be flash fiction, short plays, memoirs, etc. And sometimes, there will be gigs by local musicians.
In any case, there will be time on these Final Fridays for open mic, so writers not on the docket should feel free to bring and read their best work or maybe just work that they want to get out there for presentation and response.
